New Eviction Procedures in Anne Arundel County

eviction anne arundelThere have been some changes to eviction law in Anne Arundel County:

Starting July 1, 2026, landlords are required to give 14 days written notice of eviction. Also, a tenant’s belongings will no longer be left in the street.

When the eviction happens, the locks will be changed, and any of the tenant’s belongings will be locked inside the home. A tenant will only have 24 hours to retrieve their things before the landlord can get rid of everything. After the 24 hour period, the tenant will no longer have rights to their personal possessions — this includes medications, important documents, family photos, etc.

Please protect yourself and your possessions — as soon as you receive the official notice, call 211 and ask for the Coordinated Eviction Prevention Intake (ACE Program). By doing so, you can be connected to an attorney.

If you have a landlord-tenant issue that doesn’t pertain to evictions, please fill out our intake form.
