Case Management Intern – SOAR Program: Strengthening Financial Security for Older Adults

Are you passionate about helping older adults achieve financial stability and economic security? Join us this summer through the Securing Older Adult Resources (SOAR) Program, where interns support older adults across Maryland through financial education, benefits access, and community outreach.

The SOAR Program is part of Economic Action MD Fund, which advances economic rights and equity through research, advocacy, consumer education, organizing, and direct service. 

We strongly encourage applications from college students who receive Pell grants, financial aid, or other forms of financial assistance as part of our commitment to expanding equitable access to professional opportunities.

  • Duration: June 15 – August 7
  • Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Hybrid)
  • Compensation: $3,600 stipend + $250 for professional development
  • Location: 2209 Maryland Ave, Baltimore, MD 21218
  • Reports to: SOAR Program Director
  • Provide financial education to older adults
  • Assist with screening and completing applications for the Maryland Renters’ Tax Credit (RTC) and Homeowners’ Tax Credit (HOTC)
  • Support older adults with applications for earned benefits and public resources
  • Conduct community outreach at libraries, senior centers, and community events
  • Prepare and organize outreach and educational materials
  • Participate in team meetings and discussions on barriers facing older adults
  • Collaborate with program staff, counselors, and community partners.

We are looking for students or early-career individuals who are:

  • Interested in older adult services, financial education, advocacy, or community outreach
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment (in-person and field-based work)
  • Strong communicators and team collaborators
  • Able to manage tasks independently and follow through on responsibilities
  • Comfortable using (or willing to learn) Microsoft Office and virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams)
