My Home Initiative

In 2020, Maryland passed the Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) Act, adding source of income as a protected class. This new law extends fair housing rights to folks who pay for housing with housing choice or section 8 vouchers, other forms of government assistance, or any non-wage legal income. In October 2022, we will launch our My HOME initiative to promote compliance with this new law by educating members of this new protected class about their rights, educating housing providers about their responsibilities, conducting compliance audits of housing providers, and providing support for individuals facing source of income discrimination.
